Chanterelles that have been dehydrated are a sight to behold. You can use them in soups, stews, and a variety of other dishes. The procedure of dehydrating chanterelle mushrooms is quite simple! You’re good to go as long as you have a dehydrator. You’ll also need those chanterelles, of course. Let’s get down to business and figure out how to dehydrate chanterelles.

How to dry your Chanterelles using Airtek Dehydrator Machine

If you want the dehydration process for chanterelles (or any other mushroom) to proceed successfully, there are a few things to bear in mind. To clean mushrooms, there is no need to soak them in water or wash them thoroughly. Keep in mind that mushrooms are basically porous sponges. They’ll absorb a lot of moisture. Soaking the chanterelles in water can be counterproductive as we’re aiming to get rid of the excess water. Simply washing them under running water or brushing off the dirt with a tiny brush should be sufficient. You can simply wash it off again when you’re ready to sauté the dry mushrooms. If you must wash the mushrooms, make sure to dry them completely with paper towels.

  • Slice mushrooms lengthwise at about 1/4 inch thickness. Smaller mushrooms can be kept without being cut. If they are small enough, their size will be sufficient enough to be dried wholly.
  • Employ your children or anyone idly zooming around to help you with stacking the chanterelles on the dehydrator tray. lining the mushrooms on the dehydrator nets/trays.
  • Place the trays in the Chanterelles drying machine and adjust the temperature to your liking. This is when things start to get a little geeky. There are many different points of view on how to dehydrate mushrooms at different temperatures. According to some, the lower the setting, the better the outcomes.

Some mushrooms are cooked to a temperature of around 160 degrees Fahrenheit Some people experience temperatures as low as 105 degrees Fahrenheit. Aside from the nutritious content, the difference is obviously the amount of time you will spend using the dehydrator. With 125F, I like to keep it in the middle. I also suggest checking the dehydrator every two hours. Once you have perfected the timing of your mushroom you can set the automation in the Airtek dehydrator and get your chanterelle mushroom drying in batches.

  1. If you want the dehydration process for chanterelles (or any other mushroom) to proceed successfully, there are a few things to bear in mind. 2. Slice the mushrooms lengthwise at a thickness of roughly 1/4 inch. Mushrooms that are smaller can be preserved without being chopped. If they’re little enough, they can be dried completely if they’re small enough.
  3. Chanterelles stacked on the dehydrator netting or Trays.
  4. Place the nets/trays in the dehydrator and adjust the temperature as needed. Airtek dehydrator is set to 125 degrees Fahrenheit for four hours. Check on the chanterelles every 2 hours to see how they are doing. Set the timer for another 2 hours if the food isn’t ready.
  5. You’ll know the mushrooms are dehydrated enough when the texture becomes leathery and the mushrooms snap like a cracker when bent. I let the mushrooms cool a bit and place them in an airtight container or a space saver bag for storage. Dehydrated chanterelles will store well in air-tight container.
